Gender identity and sexual orientation will be reviewed to better understand concepts related to gender dysphoria. Child, adolescent and adult populations will be described with an emphasis on what current evidence we have available to guide our treatment choices. An overview of psychosocial and medical interventions for people wishing to transition will be outlined and pper-support community resources will be reviewed.

Objectives

As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • define sexual orientation and gender identity
  • understand gender dysphoria in children & adolescents/adults
  • review interventions for gender dysphoria
